Why Am I taking this class???

This is the first time that I have ever written a blog so please forgive me if it isn't right. My name is Donna, and I am a Communication Studies major. I have always  had an interest in human interaction and with an emphasis on gender roles in society and how they differ in across different cultures. The other reason that I took this class quite honestly is because I needed to complete my elective credits for my degree plan and this seemed to be a very interesting and challenging topic. As an older adult I have seen a shift in the attitude in and towards girls, the shift has been both good and bad. I believe that if we fight for gender equality, then we must also teach responsibility and respect for that equality. Complacency is dangerous and can lead to objectification. Anyway, I am kind of passionate about multiculturalism, gender equality, human rights, and the overal pursuit of a good and kind humanity, kind of sappy, one might say, but that is one of the reasons that I took this class.
